This article also has history of her. She doesn't look too bad in that painting but you know how much trouble you got in to as a painter back then if you didn't make royalty look really nice!

I googled some Catherine pictures, most of them are portraits of her in older years. Here are some links of paintings of younger Catherine:

(1) http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill...20/cathyII.jpg

(2) http://virginiarounding.com/images/Catherine.jpg

(3) http://romanov-gifts.com/paintings/pnt19.jpg

Now this one would be great as Catherine of Russia

A&E has a biography of Catherine the Great and it DOES star Zeta-Jones in the title role. And yeah, she looked good it in. Its about 10 years old now so it was one of here early roles.

Catherine, Victoria, and Elizabeth were all touted by contemporaries as beauties in their youth.

Time, however, is cruel to everyone.

Didn't she die when she tried to commit sexual acts with a horse? Can someone please elaborate on this, as I haven't got a single clue.
