MP3's on DVD

Can you record MP3's on a dvd-r and will they play in your dvd player? How do you go about doing this?

I don't think it's possible... I might be wrong though, I'm not an expert at this.

well, i dont know about dvd's but if you record mp3's on a cd as just a bunch of files, not as an audio album then you could play them ( at least on my dvd player ). now i think that dvd's would probably work the same but it might also depend on your dvd player. Try it. In the worst case scenario you will just have a backup copy of your music on a dvd

I was just wondering because DVD's contain so much more space than a cd-r, which I record mp3's to all the time and play in all of my dvd players. I just wasn't sure about how to go about it and the readablility.

Well, in theory you just do the same you do when you create a mp3 CD. Just use your favourite dvd burning tool and create a data dvd with mp3s on it. The dvd player should be able to play it.

Yes, before I got my Zen I put all of my media (that I hadn't bought, which was a lot already) on to CDs and DVDs, and both worked just fine . You don't need to use anything fancy.

I went to back up my mp3s to DVD, and I had to use a program to copy them over, like Nero or whatever's on my system. You can't just drag and drop like a CD-R.

As for playing them back, I haven't tried it yet. I would presume you could play them off the DVD in Windows Media Player, I dunno....

MP3's on DVD

I have both Nero and NTI on my computer. Those of you that put your MP3's on DVD, did you get a lot more on the DVD? Also, if you can't drag and drop, what do you do?

Well of course you got a lot more on the DVD. A cd has a capacity of about 700 mb. A DVD has a capacity of 4.7 gb. So yeah a lot more.

What I did was use Nero and made a data disc. Then I told Nero to copy the music directory, and it burned the files on. Just dragging and dropping via Windows Explorer doesn't seem to work with DVDs, like it does CD-Rs. This was with a DVD-R disc.
