There's a few EU2 threads scattered around here, including a couple of AAR's. I'd also recommend going to this site Paradox EU2 Forum for any questions or advice, it's really good for that.

Personally, I love the game, though I'll admit it took me a while to get into it. Don't be afraid of failure or to experiment. For a starter country I'd recommend England, Austria or the Ottoman Empire in the Grand Campaign.

Thanks. What attracted to me to the game was that I'm a fan of European history. So I hope there's a lot of historical relevance in the game.

Civ IV looks great and is a fantastic game but it's a game where the American civilization starts in 6000BC. It doesn't satisfy the deepest history buff in me.

No! Stop! Turn it off!!!! ..... too late you are addicted.... EU2 is a great game that will take hours of your time. As it was rightly said try to play as Austria or the Ottoman Empire. For me also Spain or Burgundy is quite appealing.

Thought about getting it until I realised I never will because no where sells it.

Aye, I can appreciate that. I only happened to grab it when it was in the bargain section.

I very rarely see Paradox games in stores. I managed to get HoI2 on the release day, never seen it in the shops since.

Actually I'm getting Europa Universalis. Not II. What's the difference. Which is better?

This is what I'm getting:

Second one is much better, more options, larger time scale and far more polished.

Well I'm getting this for free because my mom works for a computer software reseller. But she said she can't get me II.

Maybe, I should try this and see if I like it and then get II?

I've looked around for II on the Internet but most places don't have it in stock anymore like the guys above have said.

III is coming out next year?

Both of the EU's (I & II) are great, although # II gives the player much more of their money's worth.

Not in Australia, which is where I live. Trying to find even EUII was like finding a needle in a haystack.

Make sure you go to the EU forum and download the fan modifications. They make the game even better.
