Question How come some threads that go over a 1000 posts are not closed but others are?

Im wondering this because i know of several good threads that are over a 1000 and not closed yet.

I can understand mod threads for civ games not closing because it would make things confusing but what about threads like the funny screenshots thread in civ4 gen discussion?

Im just wondering what makes it so some threads get closed once they hit a 1000 but others are left untouched.

I thought that picture and photo threads should got closed anyway when they go over 1000 posts. But the funny screenshots is one of the best threads out there, and I think that if it gets closed there should be a new one started and stickied!

No - they get closed. Its probably because someone hasn't noticed it, or got around to closing it.

The 1000-post limit is for Off Topic in particular. Other subforums have different limits, which *may* be less rigorously enforced, depending on the thread.

*THE* newbie welcome thread is in the Civ4 forum. After all, that is where *most* newbies start out, right now.

We don't have 1,000 posts limit in the on-topic Civ forums. For the file forums, I even let threads go for as long as 6000 posts, and the other forums about 3000 posts...

Even the OT forum can have longer than 1000 posts limit if the OT mods want that. The server should be able to handle that with relative ease, since we have two servers powering the forum.

I know the O/T leavings and new arrivals thread the official one, as it's series has been around far longer than the newbie thread.

Yup.

Closing 1000 posts threads isn't really that high on our priority list.

The Official Arriving/Departing/New Members thread is closed, is there going to be a new one?
