What are referals?

Every so often you'll see someone whos profile says "referals: 2" or something. What are referals?

They are basically meaningless...there's been lots of threads about these, so you can just search the forum to learn about them.

I was always under the impression (and still am) that its how many people join the forum "under your name". That is... how many other members you can bring to the forum.
