Warloards Crashes Pc
Every Time I Play Warloards The Game Either Crashes To Desktop Or Reboots The Pc. Tried Different Settings But Nothing Works.
I Get An Error Message That Says The Program Needs To Close. It Gives Me The Option Of Closing Or Debugging But Debugging Doesnt Work Either. When It Reboots I Get An Error Message That Says The Pc Just Recovered From A Critical Error. If Anyone Can Help, I Would Appreciate It. These Are My Specs: Hp Pavillion 3.0 Ghz Pentium 4 1.5 Mb Of Ram 128 Mb Of Video Ram On Intel Graphics Chipset 2.0 Mb Of Virtual Memory |

I get the same happening on my laptop. Not the highest spec machine but same error. Seems to be no pattern to it (other than when I've got a really good starting place for my first city!!
). Tried using the auto saves and having slightly different moves but it's only a matter of time before it crashes again.Switch on laptop next day and it goes through the windows disk error/consistency checking routine. Tried re-installing Warlords. Makes no difference. Thought it might be an overheating problem, but I've tried the save game next day on very first boot of laptop and it crashes as before. Next thought could be the type of game: Fractal map, huge land size, 18 players.... memory can't cope???? Laptop spec (I can't remember of top of my head) is something like: 512MB ram 64MB graphics nearly 2Ghz cpu I think. I've got Norton Anti Virus installed..could this be a problem????? Thanks.. Ian |

Installed New Graphics Card E-geforce 7600 Gt
Still Crashes, But Not Quite As Often. Got An Error Message Saying That The Memory Could Not Be Referenced For A Particular Line Of Code. Also Got Message Saying That The Save File Was Corrupt. If Anybody Has Any Ideas Please Respond |

@ianfuture: could it be that your game crashes when you meet Ottoman civilization? The Ottoman leaderhead is broken. This is a common crash for Warlords, and there's even a fix. As for Norton Antivirus, perhaps you can disable it (just in case) before launching Warlords. And huge world @ 512 MB RAM is a deadly combination imho.
@ TOOEY: Save file corrupt? This is uncommon. Do you have enough disk space on C drive? Check the disk for errors (just in case). As for crashes, try the magic ini file option: SetMaxFrameRate=30. Can you monitor the heat of your system/GPU? Are the crashes more common on bigger worlds, later era? Have you had any similar issues with Civ4 (not Warlords)? |

when i first got civ 4 it worked fine, even on large maps. but after i installed warlords, thats when i started having problems. checked hard drive for errors, none. have plenty of disk space also. crashes seem to be more commom on large maps in later era. cannot monitor heat, but noticed that the cpu fan only kicks on once in a while. you can play for about 2 or 3 turns, then crashes. after it crashes once, then it seems to crash instantly after loading game and trying to play again. just got a new error----something about rendering? dont know if it is the game or my pc. everything else seems to work fine. will try the setmaxframerate=30. let u know if it works.
also noticed that when the game is loading, i get xml(uncached) or i get xml(cached)? thanks for replying. Last edited by TOOEY; Sep 30, 2006 at 11:13 AM. |
