Any tip for a newcomer in MP games?

Hi, I've never played a civ MP game on internet (or any other internet game for that matters). Any tip regarding how to try that without upseting people with noob questions and attitudes (I mean beside upseting you here, of course ) while having some fun myself?

1) Don't worry about being a Noob. There will be a few people that are rude because you are new, just ignore them they forget that they were also a Noob once.
2) Ask questions all players will gladly give you advice.
3) Remember you are playing against humans much more complicated than a AI play.
4) Have fun

I played my first MP game last night...it was a lot of fun, but yeah, I had a lot of questions that just felt silly. Everyone was nice, though.

Unfortunately just as I was upgrading my fairly large army to berserkers, I got a red, flashing "Out of Synch" error. I saved and quit so I could reconnect, but wasn't sure about the reconnect part. I don't know if you're supposed to find the game in the lobby list or reload or what. I tried reloading, but I guess they got tired of waiting and voted to continue without me. When I reloaded (it had been a couple of minutes), all the players were AI.

Did I go about that right but just take too long?
