See, THIS is yet another reason not to buy CIV! The AI never makes moves as priceless as that! Who needs Artificial "Intelligence" when you're already got so much of it right here!

Thing is, I've never seen the Vikings do anything like that before! They always seem to sneak a 'zerk into one of my undefended coastal cities... More fool them!

Perhaps the Vikings just had a little too much beer...

And the one with 3 zerks and a mace is explainable- the AI doesn't know how to unload units one at a time, so they have to unload all at once. The mace can't unload into the city, and so must unload on the hill. Since the AI doesn't know how to unload the mace without unloading all the zerks, the zerks come out too.

I'm pretty sure that's Warpstorm's watercolor.

Ok, I've never posted in this thread before, clueless as I am about how to technically manage screenshots. I hope some picture will show up below, but I can't promise anything.
I was playing as Spain, and as Spain, I had never really known how to use that Conquistador. Then I came across this this peninsula. I think, if I would be at war with either the Aztecs or the Carthaginians, all of a sudden I would have the perfect use for the Conquistador...
What you see in the picture also by the way, is a Numidian Mercenary fighting itself to death against a barbarian camp, not allowing himself to heal between attacks. Another example of silly AI behaviour.

Yep I'm using Warpstorm's Watercolor terrain - otherwise unmodded C3C1.22.

It seems to be the time for food pics

I found this wonderful area and lost it as the Babs stole it even as my people were on their way there. I should get a later pic of my city's bordering theirs.

I have taken the cow and one wheat from the Babylonians by culture so far

If I had been able to get control of it, I would have put a city on the closer hill (which is where I did put my settler) and another on the grass tile that is CxxC from the hill. Plenty of food for 2 cities to share.

Just because the AI does it . . .

Doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Darski, you should really enjoy this one.

In a recent game as the Celts, I had Theodora as a neighbor. I built an embassy in Constantinople. Soon thereafter, I discovered . . .

Spoiler:
that she had built her capital next to a volcano.

I'm sure that you can imagine where the story goes from here:

Spoiler:
The volcano erupted, destroying Constantinople.

Not to be deterred by such rotten luck, Theo persisted . . .

Spoiler:
and built Varna on the same spot.

Well, Mother Nature was not about to be deterred, either.

Spoiler:
And She destroyed Varna, just like she had Constantinople.

Mother Nature had spoken. Apparently, Theo wasn't listening.
Spoiler:
She promptly put Trebizond on the very same spot!

I was reminded of a scene from a Monty Python movie. At the moment, I don't recall whether it was the Life of Brian or the Meaning of live, but it's a medieval scene in which the lord of the manor wants to talk to his son (who keeps trying to break into song.) "They said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built one anyway. It sank. So I built a second one. It sank, too. So I built a third one. It burned down, fell over, then sank. So I built a fourth one. And it stayed up!"

I am going to spend the whole day laughing about that one. My friends are going to be calling "those guys" if I can't explain this well enough.

The life of brian was set in ~30 AD, I doubt it was the Life of Brian.

That is one of the all-time stupidest things I've ever seen the AI do.

It was too long ago, but I think that came from Jabberwalky. If not then it was the Meaning of Life.

The movie was Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Actually, Theo had really bad luck losing two cities to a volcano like that. How often does one erupt per game - every so-many thousand years? And each time the odds are 8/1 against that the city tile is the one polluted.

Aabra - the sketch was from the 'Holy Grail'.

Actually, she lost 3 cities there: Constantinople, Varna & Trebizond!
