Should we close this forum?

I'm not TF, so I have no power whatsoever to do that, but seems that this forum is dead.
Is anyone here? Hello? If so, vote.

Haha! No one posted since you came with this, but there are 12 "no"s and 0 "yes"s.

Even if this isn't a very busy forum, it should be here. Why would we want to close it? If you don't like Colonization (anymore), then don't come here. It's that simple.

I was going to comment on the irony of a poll such as this geting only one reponse, but I see it's already been touched on.

This is an outstanding service - games that deserve to be remembered and talked about -

I just ran into a civ2 fan from way back - I gave him the link to civfanatic... no one that ever loved the game should be without it.

When I run into a Colonization fan(they are few and far between) I will send him to this board. While few, the people need to have a place to get the information about games that the manufacturers refuse to provide.

BTW- I wonder how many game designers re-visit the old game threads wishing thier game had such devoted fans and maybe figuring out a way to emulate the success into thier new product?

In my experience, the gaming world is well stratified.

There are worthless games, crappy games, games that work on your computer but aren't any fun, stupid games, playable/borderline games, games that are 'alright', good games (Pirates, Covert Action, RRT), great games (Civ1, Colonization, SF1&2, RRTII, TTD, ToT), and the ultimate games (Civ II Series, AoE Series, SMAC, SMACX).

I haven't played Civ III yet or CtP I or II. Colonization is a great game when you compare it to the population of games ever made. (note that most of the games I listed are by Sid or people from his team).

Colonization is one of the best games I've ever played, and I have WASTED my money on a lot of games that I just threw away because they didn't deliver jack.

There needs to be a webpage dedicated to Colonization with downloads, mods, editors, tips/cheats, links, news, and so forth.
Any takers?

John

In a way, it's a shame that Sidgames didn't last the course. I'd like to see sites devoted to all these great TBS games under one roof. Either CFC or 'Poly could pick up the torch to provide that service (I note that CFC is becoming more diversified on the Forums).

There was a great UBB Forum called the "Omega Project" which dealt with Birth of the Federation and other ST games, which also didn't last. A real shame...

I totally agree, Andrew. I suppose CFC and Apolyton will eventually pick up more bits and pieces...but it's probably not going to be as comprehensive as we would like (at least it's something). I've noticed that the best coverage for the Original Civilization is at CFC and Apolyton-- basically there is no other site on the web for Civ 1, which is truly sad.

You never know, maybe they'll make a Colonization II and they'll look here for suggestions.

No way! Colonization rocks! About a half a year ago now I loaded up that game and played my heart out once again. And I will do it again someday. I feel like doing it now.Its a lot of fun. What I can't understand is how they can't make games as fun as that anymore ( CivIII is fun by the way). So many of todays cpu games have flashy graphics put they lack the plain old fun. Why?... would sombody tell me why?... can't they make games as fun as say X:com series, or Sid Mier's Covert Action. All of these are super classics and I still love to load them up and play through to this very day, even when I got a new copy of some lastest rave, look at me I got super graphics and cost 60 bucks, cpu game.

I say DEFINITELY NOT! Colonization is still one of the games i play on a consistent basis. While the Colonization following may be small, it is very dedicated; it would be a disgrace to close this forum.

Hear hear. Well said that man. I propose a new motion: we excommunicate Juize from Civfanatics for failing to get it.

j/k

Besides I love coming here after a couple of months have gone by and sticking my oar in.

BTW, JV:

We used to have David Legard's site, but this seems to have moved (or closed). Anybody got the new URL?

I still play colonization when I find time. I would love a follow up. I played it more than Civ2, cause ot was so much faster.

Would be a shame to close the forum.

Think I should reinstall it again!

Well, the truth is...

Legard's site closed a while back...I have not seen any other Colonization site that rocks like that one...

By the way there is a Colonization 2 project for those interested and that site totally rocks... you guys should check it out.

Nope. Colonization is art.. One of the best gameconcepts that has ever been produced. Not as genial as Civ, but when Sid develops this game further, than it will be a great game..

Colonization is nostalgy, so please don`t close this forum.

I was interested to read this, and looked up the Colonization 2 site, which JV2 forgot to link to. If any of you can contribute then that would be great!

Keep it open.

Colonization is a great game, and although I only play it occasionally (between games of Civ2 and more recently Civ3), I still do play it. Alot of other people still play it too (especially those with lower powered PCs). It's always good to get tips from forums like this one.
