After burning countless hours playing Civ 2,
I got "Civ 3 Complete" as a present.I would like to start a civ 3 game on one of the real world maps with the chosen tribes in their geographically correct starting positions but I have not found this possible; ~ In starting up a new Civ 2 game on a real World map, one is presented with the options of having the tribes correct starting positions or randomising the start positions. Unless Im missing something, or there was an error in the loading, there is no such option apparent to me in starting a civ 3 game. Although my chosen tribe is usually in the right place the others are randomised, even when I tick the "culturally linked" option. (But) my home comp is on Windows ME [which may be the cause of the problems] Is there a route thru the Civ 3 settings menus that ought to ensure correct start positions? (Or am I limited to correct start positions in scenarios only) The manual seems to have no guidance. Please advise. Opening the map editor option I found several error messages about files not loaded flash by before incomplete and unworkable graphics appear, so maybe there is an option for correct geographic start positions but the button (or whatever) didnt load.(?) There is no such option in the Civ3 setup. However, if you search through our Creation & Customization forums, you will find more than a few maps that have been created with all the civs starting in their correct locations.

To do that, either load something like TeThurkans Test of Time from the PTW scenarios folder in the civ editor or get and earth map and place the correct locations for each civ
