Hello,
I've done everything I read to do in those forums, and it came out that I'm still missing something. I've got a message ERROR READING FILE ".\ART\UNITS\ECAVALERY\ECAVALERY.INI" and the game shut down. What is this file? My comp is not finding it at all. please help |

Every unit requires an .INI file. If the folder name and INI file name do not match the game cant find it and you get that error. Additionaly you should make sure both the modified BIQ and the scenario folder you are using for your additions are in the conquests/scenario folder.

sometimes units come zipped in an unneeded file folder...make sure the unit is in the top folder...
in other words Art/units/(unit name) and not Art/units/(unit name)/(Unit name) |

Also the unit I have downloaded (the ASW Helo by vingrjoe) has an INI file (the texty looking thing with a sprocket on it) but is not actually named with the .ini suffix. Does this matter? When I open the INI file it is written in some kind of code, is this normal? Sorry for my ignorance and to ask so much but I have been trying for a couple of days to get this to work and would really appreciate some guidance. Profuse thanks in advance. |

not to contradict Yoda, but to some the text in the INI may SEEM like a code...
Its not a code, its a list of possible actions, sounds and speeds... notice that they are all "Attack" or "defend" or "Walk"...this is how the game knows what flic animation to play for each action... There doesnt have to be an "INI" extention at the end (its there you just cant see it) You should be working is the scenario folder...there are tutorials on how this is done... |

Thanks for replying Spacer One. It is useful to know that the "INI" extension doesn't actually have to be visible. I actually renamed it to have a .INI suffix - think I may have messed it up now! As far as the code goes, the INI file I have for this unit is not in any earth language, it is a series of what look to me like hieroglyphics! (I know it is really some sort of computer programming language). This leads me to wonder if it is some kind of format that needs converting to be effective. I haven't really got any further in my attempts to add a unit and am now beginning to wonder if I should start over.

Im not sure what you could be doing to see the INI in a strange language...it looks more or less just like this:

I think you better start over using the original unaltered .ini .......... and also it would be a good idea in your preferences to show file extensions. |

molesworth, have you had any success yet? If not feel free to PM me - I might be able to work out what the problem is...
