Well, I really enjoy the military micromanagement although the city micromanagement is tedious at times, mainly because you have to bring up another screen...I wish you could micromanage your cities from the main game screen...Probably difficult with specialists, but the worked tiles would probably be easy enough

Hi all,
I agree with you, that up to emperor, domination may be harder then space race. But from emperor on (at least in my experience) space race is the hardest to go, because maintaining (and getting) a tech lead for exemple on deity is brutal. When you go domination and have expanded and played well up to endgame, you can still take out up to 3 nations in endgame (even on deity), when you are a little backwards in tech and fight with numbers (so in general I only used domination as fall-back plan, when space-race failed...) P.S.: We have an actual game going on (isolated emperor start) where we are going to try again the domination thingy, so if I could motivate some of you to join in, it would be great ![]() P.P.S: And if you find out or know useful tricks for effective military micromanagement (maybe like saving time) I would love to know them |

There is a line of research that almost guarantees you a space race win on Emperor and probably also Immortal granted you're not ridiculously behind.
After researching Scientific method, Biology, communism (state property) you go horizontal through the tree: electricity, radio, computers, artillery, rocketry , satellites, Fiber optics. trade electricity or radio for assembly line (for the factories and infantry) by researching a few turns into assembly line. Then build the Internet. you get all the techs you ignored for free. This worked for me everytime at emperor and also the one time i tried it at immortal. This process is so automated though that there's no fun in it. I haven't tried domination enough to see that you can do it on immortal with slightly inferior units, seems you have to have huge numbers and you have to be fast, not only some civs have to be taken out but also expanding borders must give you enough land to get dom before Ai's launch. |
