Video problem

Maybe someone out there can help me with this one! I've tried Infogames support, but no luck. I run WinMe with an Anthlon 1700 processor with 256 meg mem. Game installs fine, intro runs okay, but when you play the game, the diplomatic screens don't appear, words are off the bottom of screen. This seems to be the only problem, the game plays fine. I have updated the video card drivers, monitor drivers, and WinMe drivers. Checked and rechecked the refresh rates and monitor settings. What really blows my mind is that I played the game on my old computer, which was an antlon 366 and Win95 os, and the game ran fine. Slow, but it did run. The only thing I have noticed is that no matter what setting I use, 800x600 or the proper 1024x768, the gamescreen isn't affected. It seems like the game starts in 1024x768 mode and then something forces it to a different resolution, which I think is causing my problem. Can anyone give me some idea on this?
