Is Warlords Easier in Single Player?

I jumped back into playing Civ Recently. I used to play Civ 2 a whole lot....didn't like Civ 3 all that much...went out and got Civ 4 and liked it a lot. I had gotten to the point where I was perfecting my "Prince" game. I went out and purchased Warlords.

I loaded it up and was excited to see the Celtic Empire. I enjoy Celtic history so I jumped into a Noble game (I wanted to take a step back to acclimate to game changes). I ended up with an easy Domination Victory in the 1800's and had a "Score" that put me up with Augustus Caesar. Am I improving my game or is Warlords that much easier?

Or maybe you just got lucky ...

Apart from some details here and there the core gameplay hasn't changed much between civ4 and warlords.

They need to have a longer score chart, all my successful games end up with the Augustus, although the score range is really spread out. Of my last 2 games my first was an emperor 1752 space victory, around 35000 and augustus, the next was emperor 1442 domination around 96500, and still augustus. The next game i lost ended up with the good old Quale. Those are the only 2 things ive gotten in over 20 games quales and augustus, no idea how you go about getting the middle score, but i think it only takes like 10000 pts for augustus.

if anything, warlords with 2.08 patch should be more difficult.

Yeah, I actually have played a Prince game in Warlords and a Prince game in Vanilla again now. It seems my game play really did improve quickly...mostly by following pointers I pulled from here. They certainly were not as easy victories as the first Noble game, and I think I generally got pretty lucky with resources, religions, friends, etc. on that game.

And for those of you who can't get the middle scores - try not being so good at the game. I've been slowly rising in my victories from somewhere around fourth from the bottom to Augustus. I think to win at the higher levels you have to play pretty well, managing things skillfully enough that you get the Augustus rating.

Some advice for warlords:
Get the 2.08 patch. Ideally the one for D2D, it has some neat extra features.

Download the Feb 12th version of Blake's BetterAI, and place it in your CustomAssets folder. It is pretty much strictly better than the one that shipped with 2.08 (2.08 shipped with an earlier version of Blake's BetterAI).

Use "Aggressive AI" if you want the AI to ever go to war, other than part of the AI's plan to win the game. Realize that the AI will attempt to win the game (going for score, or domination, or culture), which is different than the standard AIs.
