Problem with exiting in the middle of the game

Basically, the game will radomnly exit while I am still playing. I tried reducing the graphics and even defragmenting my harddrive, nothing has worked. It seems (and this is just a guess) that the game only exits when the civilization is really advanced. Does anyone else have this problem, and/or know how to fix it? By the way, my computer is well qualified (i.e. perfectly capable) to run the game.

Your video card may be overheating, that's the most likely problem. (Or your CPU, or some chip on your motherboard, or ...) Download motherboard monitor and your GPU's appropriate temp checking software to see if this is the case. If one element is running at 60°C+ then that's the problem
