Unofficial TAM 1.97 patch for Civ4 Vanilla
Unofficial TAM 1.97 patch for Civ4 Vanilla
Note ---- Waiting for Laurino/Thamis 1.98, I made a patch for 1.97 (see changelog) It's a user-patch, absolutely unofficial, involving only XML files Installation ---------- 1) Download the RAR archive 2) Put it inside tam ASSETS folder (tipically C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods\The Ancient Mediterranean\Assets) 3) Use winrar "Extract here" function and overwrite existing files (make a BACKUP of your Assets/XML folder, just in case...) Enjoy! DOWNLOAD ----------- EDIT No more downloads because the patch is in TAM 1.99 Download the mod! ![]() (If you encounter problems with direct-download, do not left-click the link but instead right-click and copy path, then paste the URL in a new browser window to download) Changelog ---------- Bug resolved - Roman city names - Elephant promotions Gameplay minor changes - Saddleback Leaders (as Dido) give Flanking promo to Elephant AND Cavalry units - Tuned Elephant combat modifiers vs Cities and Siege units - Kambsor +20% vs Archers (as Pyrrhus) - Thracean Peltasts have 3/2 (combat/movement) instead of 4/2 (as Javelineers have 3/1) - Armored Mounted Archers and Scythian UU have 6/2 and are Archer units type instead of Cavalry - All Hero units have same combat modifiers as UU: Abibel of Tyre -> Flanking promo + can enter rival sea square (as Phoenician Bireme) Achilles -> +50% vs Cavalry (as Greek Hoplites) Andriscus -> no more upgrade (as Hero units) + combat strenght 6 (as Thracean Hillmen) Gyges -> +25% vs Archers (as Ionian Cavalry) Zopyrus -> +40% vs Cavalry (as Immortals) Pyrrhus -> Medium unit type instead of Heavy (as Kambsor) Civilopedia fixes - Teres has button and leaderhead (he uses Porsena button and Cunobelin head) - Fixed animation of following units: Androgeus Minoan Archer Minoan Comp Archer Gaul Cavalry Huskarl Bear Zopyrus - Fixed and checked all pedia TAG (still text needed)

And that really nerfs their UU, unless you also reduced their hammer cost. Dacia's starting area sucks and requires quick expansion into Scythia, Rome, Germany, Greece, Illyria etc. in order to keep up later in the game. You should have changed it to 4/1 if you felt it was over-powered. |

Thrace Peltasts are Thracean UU. Thracean Empire was the last civ Laurino did. You may play as Thracean Empire in a random game, not existing pre-made scenarios.
Peltasts (as Dacian UU) remain unchanged.

Good work! I'll see whether I can combine this with the work Laurino has done so far. I like what you did!

Ah, ok. Both Civs lived in the same geographic area, so I got confused. I think we need to build a new Huge world map.

Thracians lived around the Danube, south of the Carpatians (Bulgaria), which Dacians lived in modern day Romania (north of the southern Carpatians).

Thank you!
I always found the city name issue mildly annoying. Thank you for your work on this patch. I will install it prior to my Germans game I am going to start on TAM Normal map tonight. It's time to get some more fire and energy into this mod. I feel that it is so close to "completion" and movement into a new phase, where add-ons or tailored scenarios might be manageable. I just don't want to see development die on this mod. P.S. Yahoo groups is giving me issues (I can't access it from work and at home, my firewall and anti-spy ware programs etc... make it very hard to use.) |

I linked a new patch version (22 May 2007)
It contains all PEDIA TAG fixes (english text needed) You can use it with ongoing savegame I failed to solve "merchant vessell" trade bug, but it seems a Civ4 Vanilla rather than a TAM bug, or at least cannot be solved via XML scripts. Anyone agrees?

Really good
Really good to see a new patch for TAM.
I played TAM on Civ III, and TAM was the first mod I tried on Civ IV. I really enjoy the setting in the Ancient World. Hope that further developpement will continue, and this is a GREAT mod |

Looks like the mod / patch is no longer available. Is there an archived copy somewhere I can download it?

Ahhh... I got it - but neither left-clicking, nor copying the URL worked for me. I had to right-click and "save target as"...... I was too tired last night to think of it!

I just wanted to sign in to say that I have been playing a long game with Rome using your patch Ambrox62..... did you want some feedback on it? In truth, I am a little unsure whether you're planning to continue making unofficial changes.... or whether I should post up another thread with some general comments about TAM itself?

Laurino and his crew are working on TAM 1.98 x Vanilla. I'm in the crew, also, but I've a minor role.
Feedbacks are welcome, so you should use the TAM-BTS thread for comments. After 1.98, next TAM version will be BTS compatible, skipping Warlords.
