Saladin was tired of sleeping under the stars. For years he had wandered through camps, trading with nomads, searching for people willing to join his dream.

His dream was of a static life, where man ruled nature, where man shaped the ground. To many it was a dream far off, but he felt he knew how to accomplish it.

-----

The last few weeks of their travel had left the settlers buzzing with excitement. The river they had followed was running thick and a smell of slat was in the air. A vast blue body of water was in the distance. The ocean, a fabled thing, and Saladin knew at the sight of it that he was ready. Ready for the rise of civilzation.

-----

Now Saladin was standing at the edge of a cliff. His closest mates were beside him.

"Where will we head now, we've hit the great vasts of the ocean Saladin?"

Saladin was silent for a second, was his dream ready, or even attainable, it now seemes silly at the tim where the decision mattered most.
'We will sleep here for now." He said, not sure if he wanted to make the decision now.

Saladin sat in his wolfskin tent, he'd acquired it from one of the villages along the river, he couldn't remember where. The decision was hard, but he was where he needed to be. The time was to see if his ideas held water.

Saladin left his tent in late afternoon and walked to th center of the camp. Almost every settler was gathered at the bonfire there, serving out a fish and some sort of gamy meat. In the yellows and oranges of the evening he gave the news.

"We've been chasing the dreams for years, it is time, today we settle! I shall call this place, Vast's Edge!"

And hence, civilization was born.

The historic moment of the founding of Vast's Edge

People were building their town now, building of mud were erected, permanent fire pits dug out, and straw roofs thatched. Saladin was proud.

Now it was time for work to commence. Many people began work on building weaponry to send off a group of warriors to explore. Another section of Vast's Edge population began to study the art of hunting. It was something they'd known how to do for simple deer. But to hunt the biggest things, such as the great thundering elephants nearby, the art had to be perfected, and Saladin was adamant on this. The great wheels of civilization were turning.

40 years later warriors came from the northwest, apparently long ago sworn to Saladin's dream. Their arrival was warmly welcomed, and they were stationed inside the town, stopping crime, and maybe, any outside dangers. Saladin however was not worried, he saw himself as the one and only founder of a civilized world.

3800 BC signified the ending of the long study of hunting, Saladin was long dead, but his dream was not. Saladin III was now sitting on the primitive throne. The head science advisor came into his palace and made a quick respectful bow.

"Oh great Saladin, I'm humbled before you. And I bear good news. Since your grandfather had formed Vast's Edge we've been working upon the art of hunting. We have formed a spear form wood and stone, we find that it is perfect for hunting beasts."

Saladin III stared into the man's green eyes. His pause gave the visitor a little fright, one Saladin always liked to instill before any conversation, Saladin was dictator, he couldn't let them forget it. "Good, equip that to all my warriors." He commanded with a brush of his hand.

The scientist's eyes avoided Saladin's, "Umm... that's the problem, they're hunting tools, if we want something useful we'll need something stiffer than simply stone. Something of the great pagan gods."

Saladin sighed, "Then what?"

"There is hope in another form, we have tested a new technoloy. It's the bow, it neds much refinement, but we think that you could create a great army with it."

Saladin let a smile creep across his face, but he quickly took it off his face. The scientist stood, waiting. "Well go!" he commanded, belying his hopes. One day, the Saladins would control the world. The scientist lef the room to let Saladin think. Now he dreamt, as his grandfather had 120 years ago, he dreamt of the time where the Saladin's Arabian emprie spanned from the Vast to the mysterious north.

-----

Vast's Edge had finally finished training their 200 year warriors. Weapons were supplied. It was the last day of their sitting in comfortable homes, they would be dispatched north, to investigate the holy rivers where it was said the ancient settlers had arrived. Sons hugged their mothers and wives. every man 13 or up was dispatched with a club in hand. Esther Validian was appointed as General of the explorative group.

The next morning was known as the morning of the leave, for 200 years nobody had left the great city of Vast's Edge, now a group of explorers would past the borders to make an accurate description of the world. Validian gathered his group and headed out to. They walked the side of the holy river. Nobody knew what lay ahead.

Esther Validian forged a path along the river, through forests into jungles, examining the wildlife. The river took a sharp turn and they were led along to the first hospitable village. The people had remembered Saladin. They joined him readily, and headed east to join Vast's Edge.

Validian kept sending scouts back to Vast's Edge to update the world's view. Eventually the holy river came to it's birthplace, and it was there they discovered a new civilization. This discovery was incredible, it was believed Vast was the only static civilization around.

The meeting of new civilizations brought about a revolution. For long the Sladins had preached they were the one and only leaders of the static peoples. But the meeting of new tribes turned this view upside down. Riots broke out across the streets.

Saladin VII was in the throne and he tried to subdue the peoples. Harsh rules were instigated. But a new group emerged, the Druids of Vast. Theikr promises pandered to the people of Vast's Edge. The Druid's Promised that their rule would bring the downfall of all civilizations.

Saladin and the Druids of Vast debated for years, but the outcome was decided long ago, the people were adamant. One night peasants with torches began marching through the cities. The trail of enraged peasants led to the palace itself.

Saladin VII struggled. He was a well-meaning but weak ruler, and he was hung upside down in the square, his skin flayed from his flesh with Abalone shells. The age of druidic rule began, who knew how long it would last.

The great VED had many revolutionary ideas, the first was a mural of the known world, painted in the town square.

Through the times of exploration and revolution several new technologies were discovered, archery and mining to dig in the earth and protect cities. Lastly masonry, sadly they had no stone or marble yet. The VED were a major factor now, they promised that with the bringing of metal working many civlizations would fall, they also promised a second city, something unheard of for a thousand years. In return they brought nature worship, and their society was at a great peace.

At the Circa. BC 2200 Settlers were dispatched and came to a desert. It was a key point to military, and it held food for the next city. As well, Vast's Edge was adding several great buildings to itself, the barracks were able to train military as if they had entered battle themselves. This led the citizens to be ancy for war, they yearned for a time where the druids ruled the earth. Secondly the VED commissioned the building of an obelisk to the Spirit of Nature itself. Vast's Edge was at a peak in its morale, things were going quite well for the early civilization.

Finally the settlers founded the town of Mistle Knot, a town name that was of course, commissioned by the VED. now the empire of the Arabians was growing larger and the world was becoming better known. The success of the town led the VED to commission yet another settler.

Meanwhile archers were being bult as a protective foce in the two cities. The VED's promises of conquest were coming to fruition. They promised their first target would be Greece.

All for now guys
