Advanced start and goody huts
When using advanced start you pop a hut during the build phase the gold is added to your remaining points. If you are lucky a single hut gives enough for an entire city so that's nearly as good as poping a settler.
I actually quiet like that behavior but it feels a bit like an exploit.

It's not that I have a problem with it but it can be quiet overpowered if you happen to get an additional city or two to start with.
Also if you pop a tech which enables some tile improvement, like fishing, then it will not be available to build during by mode. Also the tech can not be bought so you can't place any fishing nets. |

This is not correct,
if you unlock a tech in buy mode its effects are also immediately unlocked. I had several cases where the goodie hut unlocked (for example) hunting and I was able to buy scouts directly afterwards. Same goes for tle improvements that get unlocked by techs that I discover in this way. So if you aren´t able to buy the tile improvement unlocked after fishing your fish resource was either not in the region where you are allowed to place things you buy (the white shaded region) or this is the real bug.
