No Colonies with 18 civs problem
Hey
I just found out after putting a good few playing hours of this Epic game i am playing, that you can not create colonies when you start the game with 18civs So I was wondering if it would be possible to edit the saved game or the world builder map in such away to remove 2 of the Civs that have been eliminated thus freeing up space for new Colonies? Complete dummy when it comes to XML or Python but I am willing to learn. |

What i have tried so far is, entering the World Builder and saving that map. Then i open the saved map in Notepad and remove all references to the two teams that where in it. No luck though as the game crashes when it starts.

I know in the past raising that limit had to be at the .dll level, and I think that is still true.
You could go into WB and eliminate a civ or two. But then you would see things you weren't supposed to. You could send a saved game to me, welnic at mac dot com, and I could try to do it for you. On the other hand there are in the game devices for eliminating civs.

There are a few modded DLLs that allow you to use more civs, the highest one I've seen is 40 civs. Have a poke around in the downloads section.

The game require 18 players and teams even if you do not have 18 players or teams in the game. If you have less the extra should simply be empty.

Macmatt, thanks for the mod advise, i found and downloaded it. Unfortunately it wont let me start my saved game from that mod. Is there anyway around this?
snarko, Im not 100% sure what you mean, should i edit the file like this: BeginPlayer Team=4 LeaderType= LeaderName= CivDesc= CivShortDesc= CivAdjective= FlagDecal= WhiteFlag= CivType= Color= ArtStyle= PlayableCiv= MinorNationStatus= StartingGold= StartingX=61, StartingY= StateReligion= StartingEra= RandomStartLocation= CivicOption= CivicOption= CivicOption= CivicOption= CivicOption= AttitudePlayer=, AttitudeExtra= Handicap= EndPlayer I have attached the save game/map file (without any plot info to cut down on size for upload), I have made some changes to it already. |

Even if you have some civs killed off, you still can't make colonies. I've tried it too.
In my game, I had 18 civs at the start, and 5 of them died by the them I was able to make colonies, but I couldn't!! I had 2 cities and i clicked to liberate them to their independence but nothing happened!

Snarko, thanks for the advise! I got it work and I am happy to say North Australia is a happy colony with Abe Lincoln in charge.
