Game will not start - Hangs in Loading Screen - BTS v 3.02

Hi,

First, I have seen reports of this problem throughout the forums, but it seems like it hasn’t been resolved, or else people aren’t posting their solutions.

The problem is when I start BTS v 3.02, the loading (in 7 languages) pops up and the game hangs there, then crashes, to be replaced by a generic error message (Civ4 BTS has encountered a problem and needs to close). I can’t find anything useful in the error message, and it never makes it to the second loading screen, with the load bar.

Perhaps 3 times the game has started, and then runs fine. Lately, in addition to the normal error message, sometimes it will tell me the CD is not found/not in drive, when I have a legitimate copy in my CD drive. I uninstalled daemon tools because I thought it might be a conflict with safedisc4, installed 3.02, and got latest drivers for ati x800 mobile. Civ 4 always worked fine and still does on this comp.

Would it help to enable logging? My dxdiag report is attached; let me know if you need any other information to help resolve this.

Same here...tried updating video driver and dvd-rom driver. Still "frequently" stalls at loading splash screen.
