This is kind of an embarassing question about editing DDS images in Photoshop, but...
...I need to ask it, anyway; I'm at lost for what to do.
I know how to edit DDS textures in PS fairly well, but my knowledge of recoloring is limited. I don't exactly know how to change a texture to a different color with similar shades of that color. So, for example, changing an image made of light red, dark red, and moderate red, into light blue, dark blue, and moderate blue, respectively. Now, here is it's relevence to Civ4, and also why it is embarassing. I want to make a black [African] unit, but the unit I am editing is white [European]. What procedure would I use in PS to make his skin a darker color, but keep the existing features in that new color (ie, eyes and knows)? He who helps me will be credited in the unit's download file, when I release it. |

Most times I would use the color replace brush, but brown is a tricky color with that. For this you should use the standard brush tool. Set the color as brown, and the brush as a solid or fade circle. Set the mode as linear burn, and the opacity at @ 80 percent or less, depending on the darkness of the skin tone you're going for. Should work... pic for reference.

Image > Adjustments > Hue / Saturation
Check the "Colorize" and "Preview" boxes. Fiddle with the sliders til you find the colors you want.
