Stop trading with...

So I bribe Pericles to stop trading with Mao. Next turn, he's still trading 2 commodities with the guy! So I figure, does it just mean no open borders? Or maybe it's a bug.

And furthermore, just a few turns later the option becomes highlightable again for if I wanted to bribe Pericles to stop trading with Mao--again. Well, I know better this time, I guess. Am I missing something?

Maybe it works like a cease fire (as opposed to a 10 turn peace treaty)... that'd be my guess.

Nobody else have this problem? Actually, does anyone use the diplomatic option of "stop trading with...x leader" as a strategy?

I'd like to hear how you have used it and what happened. Thanks.

I have tried it before and it means close borders. If you ask them to stop trading they cancel the open borders agreement and the other civ can no longer go through them.

I use it when i have a friend with an aggressive civ at the other side. I dont know how long it lasts as said. I think maybe there may be a bug with it by the sounds of your game.
