Italy 1 Croatia 2

Well I never expected this result, especially after Croatia lost to Mexico. Croatia seemed to have the linesmen on their side though, through out the game.

Especially that last goal from Italy, I mean what was wrong there? It was a goal no matter what. Anyway I like it that the Croatians have won as I don't hold the Italians high.

I give credit to Croatia for coming back from being down 1-0 and popping the two goals, but i think a tie would have been a fair result. That linesman's calls were very dubious.

I think it was okay that the third (possible) goal for Italy wasn't rewarded, Inzaghi pulled the defender so that can be a reason.
The first one, however, was definetely correct. Nobody was anywhere close to offside so it's another example of 'weird' refereeing at this World Cup.
Overall I would agree that a draw might have been the fairest result, although Italy were again really dull.
This game showed once more that just very few things can be taken for granted at this World Cup and that much more teams have a chance to win than previously though.

But you still can't rule out Italy. I still think they are the team most likly to win it, but this result did shock.

No, you can't rule them out.
But you can also include for example England, Germany or Ireland ( ) in your list of potential winners now.
Nobody played to convincing matches so far.

Brazil and Spain are the onlt teams so far to have won both games. But they have relativly easy groups, so I wouldn't go running to the bookies.

Italy got robbed... I saw the replay. Too bad I don't have cable. And too bad I picked Italy in the final although they may still make it. I like their expressions. One Italian got called for a foul / card and the way he protested was extremely funny. Just the look on his face cracked me up.

I like to see Italy lose, but can fairly say "they was robbed" in this match. That last disallowed goal should have counted for a draw. He wasn't offside; What looked like a foul to get ahead of the defender looked clean on replay. O well, the linesman does not have the advantage of slow motion replay - and as it happened, it looked fishy.

What I think should make italian fans groan even more is Totti's free kick! If he'd kicked the ball 2mm farther left, it would have bounced off the keeper into the net; 2mm farther right, it would have gone into the goal. He should be made an honorary dutchman for that shot!

Let's hope Italy does not advance...

Italians are not happy.....................

Was dining out at a favourite Italian restaurant and mine host Guiseppe had the game on the tv in the kitchen. We could tell things weren't going well from the various expletives (in Italian of course) coming from the kitchen and the clincher was when we heard a cry of despair and the sound of a saucepan hitting the wall.

An apologetic young waitress appeared at our table shortly thereafter, saying there had been a minor 'accident' in the kitchen and our meal would be temporarily delayed - we didn't need to ask the score to know the result of the match.

Unbelievable, though I didn't watch the game so can't really comment. The upsets are piling up.
