Can you import and export the same?

I'm curious, can you import a resource (lets say rubber) and then export it to another Civ that values it more for profit (and fun)?

Anyone try this? Thanks.

Simple answer, no you cannot.

You cannot import a resource that you already own. (I would like to do this but we can't)
This in mind, because you cannot import a resource you do not have you cannot export the same resource.

The only exception to this is you do not own say, rubber and you import it and then export it to another civ. You will not own the rubber then, you'll just be the middleman with no rubber resource.

I don't see any impediment for that .

I have never tried, but I believe you can.
The real question is what would be the point. I mean if you are importing something it is because you need it. Not only that but the profits for that operation would be minimal.

You can export something you only have one of. I did this accidentally one game where I chose the wrong luxury to trade. A few turns later, I noticed it. Then I traded for that same luxury from a different civ.

The AI will pay a lot if you offer something you only have one of; shown as 0 for trade under Leader screen.

Well you could potentially have only 1 resource, export it to another Civ and then import it from someone else, which would work. The only problem is that if you end up at was with your supplier, you will have to declare war on the civ that you're supplying in order to get your resource back.
