![]() Developer: Firaxis Games Publisher: 2K Games Platform: Xbox360, PS3, Wii & DS Release Date: Spring 2008 Overview 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., announced today that it will publish Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, the first next generation game designed by world famous game designer Sid Meier. Slated for a spring 2008 release for next generation consoles and handhelds, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is being developed by Firaxis Games. "Civilization Revolution is the game I've always wanted to make!" said Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development at Firaxis Games. "We are excited to take advantage of the power of next generation consoles and the ingenuity of handhelds, to create a great and unique strategy game for newcomers to the series, as well as the millions of fans around the world who enjoy Civilization on the PC." It will have sixteen civilizations available for play and is capable of online multiplayer mode. In addition, auto-matching, ranked games, leaderboards, achievements, downloadable extra content and integrated video and voice chat will make the online play more versatile and fun than any previous version of Civilization and will allow players to see where they stand against the competition. Finally, the position of ruler of the world can be settled online. A nice trailer for the game can be found at CivilizationRevolution.com. Be sure to check it out! EDIT: We have created a section in the gallery for Civilization Revolution!

Most of the info regarding Civilzation: Revolution is lost throughout multiple previews and reviews so I'll try to summarize it here.
New/Changed Core Game Concepts There is a mention of having to defeat all uncivilized nations in your area before you can progress technologically and culturally. Each civ will have its own special ability. A single game is only expected to last about 3 hours. In addition to goody huts, there will also be even greater items spread out throughout the map. These include the Seven Cities Gold, each one granting large sums of gold for discovering civ, and relics, each one granting a special ability to the civ that found it. Civs It has been confirmed that there will be 16 civs in CivRev. Code:
Civ: Leader: Special ability: Rome Caesar Egypt Cleopatra cities do better in deserts Spain Isabella Greece Alexander France Napoleon India Gandhi Japan Tokugawa China Germany Japan Mongols Russia Barbarians/Goody Huts Both goody huts and Barbarians will be in CivRev There will be three different Barbarian groups based on climate that will each have different units One of the Barbarian leaders has been revealed, Gray Wolf. It has not been confirmed which Barbarians he lead, but it from his graphics it looks the arctic barbarians. Units Known military units are (known descriptions such as required techs and strength are in Parenthesis): Legion Some sort of Swordsman Phalanx (Requires bronze Working) Warrior Archer Catapult Trireme Galley ICBM Tank Battleship Modern Infantry There is also some sort of armies Other units: Settler Worker Caravan (granted when you get certain amounts of gold) Great Leader Spy Buildings Known Buildings (known descriptions such as required techs and abilities are in Parenthesis): Barracks (requires Bronze Working) Temples Cathedrals Wonder & Relics Wonders: Pyramids (makes temples 50% more effective) Oracle at Delphi (reveals the location of a relic) Relics: Ark of the Covenant (discoverer gets free temples and cathedrals in all of their own cities) Combat/Promotions There are hints of separate attack and defense values. Promotions can only be achieved by defeating units of equal or greater strength. Units get a change in graphics when they get promoted. Known promotions are: Blitz (can move after a successful attack) March (+1 movement) Infiltration Engineer Scout AI The AI will probably be more interactive than in previous civ versions. Advisors will make a return in CivRev Can "discuss world events" (no specifics known) during diplomacy Espionage Spies will be included as units Known spy missions: Bribe general Technology Little is known about what certain techs do or how the tech tree works, but we do know what some of the early techs are. First row techs: Alphabet Bronze Working- can build phalanx and barracks. Can harvest fish Ceremonial Burial Horseback Riding Pottery Second row techs: Iron Working Masonry Writing Third row techs: Code of Laws Construction Irrigation Literacy Mathematics Forth row techs: Astronomy Currency Democracy Engineering Monarchy Religion

I hope Firaxis will finnaly mop up diversity in the later game, even with the expansions i find it moderately inadequate.

This should be good for playing on long car journeys - so far the only half-decent strategy game on the DS is advance wars.

I'm quite certain I saw two other promotions, assassin and medic, in a preview I read. Can't remember where though. Apparently they changed the appearance of the robe of some Roman soldiers (Medics got red cross, Assassins got black robe)

Assassin=infiltration. If you watch the E3 demo, you see a legion get infiltration promation and then a black robe.
Abaddon, I have listened to PolyCast 26 and I have updated the Civs section and New/Changed game concepts section of my Fact Sheet. |

Nice center, look out for possible update info!
There are a lot of SS's you might want to use for eye candy at IGN btw.

It has also been confirmed that larger maps will be unlocked once you complete the game. These larger maps will take more time to complete.

Yeah. They're in
Unless they change the name for Africa to Zulu, it just doesn't make sense. Also, they should change Hector to Hiram. I'm pretty sure more people know about Hiram than Hector. But besides that, it looks pretty okay.

^Really? Meh...the only shame of it is that Roosevelt or Lincoln won't be in.
![]() I've got enough America just living here...I'm fine with it.

That? The problem is that America adds the total to 17. All other civs can be confirmed by mentions of civ or leader in previews or interviews or by screenies that show a leader that can only be of that civ. My guess is that someone made their name Lincoln in the game. |
