How do you place a unit with the world builder?
You used to have to do something obvious, like the click the unit you wanted, and then click on the map where you wanted it to be created. That no longer works for me. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You must work for Microsoft. Your answer is technically accurate but completely unhelpful.

hmmz, i dunno. there are a bunch of little boxes on the upper right for the different things you can do, like map mode, erase mode, etc. you need player mode obviously, but i thought that was the one it's automatically in when it opened? that's all i can think of, maybe you're in map editing mode or something?

That's what I thought. I used it the same way I always use it but last night it wasn't working anymore. I was in player edit mode, clicked on a unit, and then clicked on the map and nothing happened.

hmmz again. will it let you edit the map and stuff, or is everything broken? i'd try with another unit (altho i'm sure you did that already), then switch to map mode see if lets you change anything, and and try switching to another player, and putting a unit down for them, see if that works? maybe it's just broken for you as the player since it decided you cheated enough? *giggle* that's all i can think to try atm. weird.

Dunno, that's a good idea, I'll try some other edits. I did NOT cheat enough, I was just getting started!

*giggle* for some reason that reminds me of my brother, sounds like what he'd say if i teased him like that.
oh if you do get it work, try this, it's weird ... give yourself an animal, like only the barbs have. animals are coded to never ever be allowed to step on tiles that have resources on them, even ones that you can't see at the start (like copper, uranium, etc.). so you can be a bear and walk around but a bunch of tiles are off-limits, it's really funky!

Were you "right clicking" or "left clicking" when trying to place your unit?

Click on "player mode" in the icon bar to the upper right. Choose the player for whom you want to add units. Choose the "Units" tab in the box to the upper left. Click on the unit you want to add or remove. After doing so, a left-click on the map should place one unit of the selected type for the selected player, and right-clicking on a tile should remove a unit.

That's what I thought (and that's how I've done it for the last few years) but suddenly it's not working. Considering that people can't load my savegames either, methinks I have some kind of installation problem.
