Warlords Expansion
I'm new to buying expansion packs for games and was wondering exactly what do they do? Do they just add on to your current game as like an update? Does it erase anything from your civilization 4 game like leaders or anything in civilization 4 or does it just update it with the expansion.

Well, as the name says, they expand the game. In case of CIV it does not erase anything, you can still play Vanilla anytime you want without any changes. For the Warlords (or BtS) experience separate folders are installed containing game data, separate Executables and you get separate desktop links giving you access to the new version.

Yes, but be attention, for minor changes that could have!
Like, e.g., changes of leader characteristic's or adding some news one or others situations.
