True. But the same can be said about history. History is the version of events we agreed on what happened.

But for the most part, wikipedia is mostly accurate. Bad material is quite often pruned away. And it is very quick to reference. (Besides, you just wanted to know who the Sioux were, not nit picky details that make wikipedia more iffy, for errors in those take longer to find and correct.)

I suspect, they call themselves "Sioux", so that should be totally ok.

Edit: From the link above, regarding Nakota/Dakota/Lakota:

That's true about the name of the webpage.

But I noticed they called themselves "THE CHEYENNE RIVER LAKOTA NATION"

They have a number so I will call them for myself.

sioux is a term originated by the French and
used by the Americans for various "treaties"
It is what they've come to be known as
but it is not what they ever called themselves originally, or even now.

Ask them..

Well, the Persians never called themselves the Persians until the Greeks hammered it in, and no-one has a problem with the Persians in the game!

Wonder if there are any Persians here to complain??

I do not complain.
If possible I only like to see more original terms used
for the pre-colonial cultures in the northern part of the western hemisphere.
