OT: Need help moving Civ
Hi all,
First, apologies for this off-topic post. I also posted something in the General Discussion forum... but I've been around here for over a year, and I know you guys, and it seems like you'd be able to help. My problem: I've lost the #2 disk for Vanilla. I just discovered it this week, when I finally decided to abandon my old, dying laptop and invest in an upgrade. But when I went to reload Civ... agh! I found that disk #2 had disappeared! I've looked and looked but I can't find it anywwhere. (I have small children, and I suspect one of them picked it up, thinking it was a Barney DVD or some such.) I still have Disk #1, and the Warlords disk too. Is there anything I can do? Can I transfer Civ IV from the old laptop to the new? There seem to be a lot of little files and things... how would I do this? Obviously I am a technical doofus; can anyone walk me through this? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. cheers, Waldo |

I don't know the US release. In the EU release I'm playing, the second disk was all about additional features like soundtrack and some bonus material.
My PC never required it to play/install the game. I'm sorry not being able to help you more. I hope some geek will drop around and work it out for you. Good luck.

You might be able to move the full install, but that usually doesn't work as well. (at least for me
)Your best bet is finding someone else with the disk and persuade them to lend you it so you can install it all over again. |
