stealth destroyers don't defend?!

i had a stack of stealth destroyers, carriers and jets. ai attacked with TRANSPORTS and destroyers, and the carriers took the fall! wtf anyone w/info on this?

They will defend against other Stealth destroyers

Btw - if not seen the stealth destroyer will also not try to intecept any planes, so the xx% chance to interept is wasted on that unit.

The whole SDD issue is brocken by design.

Stealth destroyers will only defend when they are detected and they can only be detected by other stealth destroyers. They will use their aerial interception even while they are not detected.

This means that the unit is largely useless as an escort since most units will not detect the unit and will thus be unable to fight it. So weaker units like transports and aircraft carriers are attacked while the stealth destroyer hides.

Most players consider this to be a bug since most players expect a strong combat oriented ship to be able to defend a stack. The unit actually follows similar coding as the submarine which will also not defend a stack as long as it is undetected.

There has been some discussion about this issue in the unofficial patch thread from Bhruic. Most agree that this behaviour should be changed.
