In almost all Civ games, you dont appreciate the value of Wonders in low difficulty..

In low difficulty you're WAY ahead anyways and you can probably beat the AI one way or another without wonders. But then in higher difficulty wonders really play in in that having one makes it that much better than the other who doesnt have it... Something like that >.>

Yeah it was the same in Civ 3. Free granaries in every city? Psh who needs that... Until you dont have the Pyramids and all of a suddon your cities all grow half as fast >.<

If you're going to run a Specialist Economy, Pyramids are of paramount importance.

I don't like building many wonders on higher levels, particularly the early ones. They provide a nice boost, yes, but usually at a poor return on margin.

Yeah... who needs access to every form of government in the early game anyways? You don't need all that money or research... you can just work for it the old fashioned way, instead of getting every form of government for ONE wonder.

It is the only must-wonder for half the time (SE situations). I usually avoid playing games with regarding *any* wonder as a must or depending my game over getting that wonder. Except Pyramids. Through stone, through engineers, through whatever sacrifices, half the time, it's a must-have. (IMO)

I know you just got Civ4, so I'll forgive you

The 'mids have to be one of the best wonders in the game. Early representation is amazing. Not only that, but if you get a great merchant or two and do some trade missions, switching to US can be a huge boon.

Trust us, pyramids are great!

I find that I eventually build Wonders just for the cultural value, especially in Ancient times. The Pyramids are MEGA-CULTURE by the end of the game...enough to put you over the top in a Cultural Victory.

I think it is the other way around. In low difficulty you're WAY ahead so it doesn't matter if you waste a few hundred hammers in Wonders. In the higher difficulties you learn not to build Wonders.

I invest my hammers in National Wonders, Great Library, the Pyramids, and (sometimes) Spiral Minaret.

If I'm Financial, I add either Colossus OR Great Lighthouse
