Hello All.

I found this web site while looking for mods for Master of Orion 2. Got bored with Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas and went back to some games I enjoyed in the 90's.
I know enough about computers to get myself in trouble, but enjoy messing with them. I have almost all of the computers I have bought over the years and I am playing MOO 2 on a Compaq Presario 300, it still runs ok. I also have pc's up to w7. This looks like a neat web site.

Smile Hi

Hello all.
Been a visitor to the Civ Fanatics website for a while, but never considered joining the forums here...

Have been a Civ player since I found an old floppy disk of the game in its 'big box' style. Since then, been following the series and enjoyed every game. Although my militaristic side is lacking...

Hello. Been a long time lurker. Thought I had an account a long while ago, but I guess not.
I've been playing every Civ since Call to Power. I'm not the greatest player, I tend to play long, slow games of world domination.
I'm also a huge TW fan. I would love for a game that combined city settlement/world creation like Civ with the real time battles of TW.

Greetings!

I about a month ago played Civilization Revolution on X360. I really became intrigued with the game, and when I heard that there was a Civ V and even had an expansion that came out I wanted to give it a try. Its been awhile since I played a PC game (former wow-addict 6 years clean).

I heard that Civ V is more aligned to the true nature of the game rather than the Revolution sequel. During the demo I was impressed with the graphics and its intricate setup in nature. Last night I saw the games available on Steam at a really nice discount, so I snatched up the original, some dlc, including the Gods and Kings expansion.

I'm hoping to learn more strategies on how to play the game on normal difficulty and move upward from there.

See you around!

Hello one, hello all! I've been sneaking around here anonymously since Civ4 for some very helpful information and strategies in both the main site and y'all's forum discussions.

I always felt like the members here were far out of my league to mingle with, but now that I've been hammering at Civ5 since launch, I figure I've got enough under my belt to make some contributions.

I'm a Steam user but I only really play Civ5 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, and my Xbox gamertag is UglyDuckling04. Yes, I do own CivRev. I have mixed feelings about it, as I'm sure you all do.

It's a pleasure, folks. Good luck on your tests of time.

Hi

New to Civ 3 played civ 1 and 2 and it still blows my mind. How do these programmers write thes things. Already spent hours playing, Id forgotten how addictive it is. I hav a question. How does the "seeds" input affect the game?

Cheers

Barry

Hello! Played Civ I, 2 and 3. Somehow did not quite get into Civ 4. Started again with Civ 5, but not overjoyed with the lack of religion or espionage. Just got CIV 5 G+K and am enjoying both the game and the Steam Workshop setup for the mods.

What I really need is a much faster PC to enjoy the game.

Hello,

I've visited this site a few times looking for help with Civ V, so finally I decided to join. Just getting into mods and having some problems there so thought I'd stop by yet again looking for answers. Glad this place is so populous.

Hey everyone -

I figured I'd post in here for my first time. I'm really just starting to get into Civ more seriously, and these forums have been a great help so far. I started with Civ 4 a few years back. I really liked the game, but I didn't make an effort to understand strategies. So I struggled very much when moving up levels. I bought Civ 5 last year when it came out, but again, struggled moving up and stopped playing relatively quickly. I bought the G&K expansion and have been putting in major hours. I've been moving up levels and trying different ways of winning (OCC, cultural, conquest, etc.). Right now I'm up to King and I think I'm on a good path towards a diplo victory with Greece. This forum has been a great resource for my development, so thanks to all the expert players and posters here for the great strategy discussions!

Try watching some Let's Plays, that really helped me. They sort of teach you where to build cities, what sort of victory you should go for in what scenario, etc.

Hello, I am 36 years and I'm playing Civ now for far more than a decade. Starting with Civ 1 in the nineties, I have played all versions from 1 to 4. I have decided against playing Civ 5 as it has receieved serveral bad reviews. Of course, I haven't spent too much time with Civ - perhaps I have finished about 20-30 games over the whole time, especially at lower levels. I hope that I will find some good advice to improve.

About Civ5.
I heard a lot of bad reviews as well from the people I played Civ4 with online. I also had a crappy computer that could barely keep up with 4 so I held off.
Just got a computer upgrade and some $ for the birthday so I used the cash to get Civ5. It is great.
True there are a lot of features that take getting used to for someone who's been around from the beginning, but they mostly add to the game. The only thing I'm not too keen on is naval transports being replaced by embarking for land units.
If you have the $ and the time I suggest you give it a shot. The bad reviews I've heard have mostly come from people playing a militaristic style ing about the non-stacking of units. It definitely does take an adjustment to your war tactics but it's interesting.
The city-states add a new facet to the game. Oh well. Just don't believe everything you hear.

I recommed you try Lord of the Rings Online, if you have not already. Its a MMO based of the LOTR books and it got added to steam recently.

Hi there

The website told me to say hi after the registration, so i am obliged to do so.

hi.

Na, just kidding, i used this community quite a long time, mostly to download mods (or more specifically Rise of Mankind) after i delet my harddrive again... Finally registered now.

ok, about myself and CIV, CIV 4 is my absolute favorite game, i play it sinc it came out and probably will it a long time to come, there is so far no alternative to it in my opinion.
Also I never finish the games, not even once, the first part till around the year 300 is just my favorite and the turntime is reasonable till then...

I just stumbled over ROM: a new dawn, just downloaded it and ll start playing it right away, does anybody know which one is the more actual, ROM 2.92 or ROM a new dawn?

so long,

erk

PS: as i see in the posts before u are talking about civ5. I bought it on the day it came out, played it for hmm, maybe 30hours and went straight back to CIV4, because i like my religions ( always play as a jewish DeGaule), think the diplomacy in CIV5 just sucks ( i dont see any reactions if i dont support the player and there are too few options), the citystates are not really that of an improvement and i dont care to much about graphics.....

AFAIK RoM: A new Dawn is built upon the latest RoM version.
