Where to settle?
Screenshot:
Spoiler:
Some notes: I'd really like to get that wheat hooked up; I got plenty of happy resources but not much health. Would like some decent short term production since I'll be going to war in <30 turns. Settings is emperor, medium & small, standard size, epic speed. Having a really hard time to decide where to put him. |

1 SW is good fresh water +2
, levee good production with two plains hill ,ivory 2food resources and later windmills, levee it is a good late ironworks city. However you will not capture spices from the city.

That is if you are only looking for one city from that area. Settle one city where the settler currently is and one south of the wheat allow you to work a lot more titles. Also one south with the corn/iron.

i would settle in place
if you do so, there are 3 good spots left for more cities moving more to the south-west means less space for your coastal cities it's up to you! |

Settle in place. Get one city S of the wheat so you get the ivory and the spices too (jumbo's are great for war!!!). But the most important one is the city 1W of the iron, unless you already have iron. Too bad there is so little seafood, though your capital is flourishing

Thanks for the advice everyone! I should probably have said that I already have all the resources except wheat already. I think I will settle 1 S of wheat first (commerce city), then 1 SW of current position (production) and then prob 1 N of corn. I expect to have two former enemy capitals shortly (well, hopefully
), so optimal long term cities are not necessary.

Myself I could squeeze in 3 good cities:
1. East of Pig 2. On Top of Wheat (Fresh water+coastal is great) 3. North of Corn

If you settle 1SW there is no reason to settle 1S of the wheat(nor possible) as then the SW city gets the wheat..

1SW = great city
1N of Corn = good city Then squeeze in helper cities where you can (e.g., 1S of east spices; 2N of west spices)

I'd settle three cities. The first where your settler is now. The second 5 tiles south of that. (To grab the corn, iron and elephants) The third 5 west of where your settler is, to grab the corn and extra spices. (Not that you need another, at this point)

Ah, I meant 1 SE of current position for the second city, not 1 SW, sorry!

I'd settle 4 city.
One case east of your settler. You get 2 ressource for cash and one for grow. An other one case south of weath. The third one at one case south of the elephant And the last one at one case west of the iron mine. |
