resizing map

I have created my own map and a scenario to go with it. I renamed a few of the civs and entered in unique city names, leaders, and modded the rules a little. My problem is that when I went to play the game, I realized that I had created it on a very large map. Is it possible to switch the size of the current map without starting over?

Regenerate the world size in the Map tab.
Or leave it all ocean, that way you can choose what size you want to play.

Can one use Regenerate to change the size of a pre-existing map? Many other threads have asked similar questions & no one ever proposed that solution. I've always seen the clunky BMP2BIC + MapTweaker combo presented as the only solution for resizing a map.

You can crop maps, but regenetation only clears the terrain and places a solid blcok of base terrain.

I spent a long time making the map. I was hoping that there was a way to keep the map while making it smaller. Doesn't sound very promising from what you guys are suggesting.

What BlueMonkey mentioned should work,

Quote:
BMP2BIC + MapTweaker
These are two separate utilities (found, conveniently, in the utilities section).

@Quinzy: I don't think krantzbucks is using a random map, but a map specific for their scenario

I'd also suggest Map Tweaker, although you'll have to do a few of things first:
1. Copy the map. This is vital, IMO, so double, triple and quadruple check this. I remember I didn't do this once, and I had to start from scratch
2. Get rid of all Player Start Locations. This, again, is vital, as if you do not, when re-opening the .biq, it will crash whenever to try to go to a square with a player start location.
3. Get rid of all cities, units, radar towers, outposts, etc. You can leave roads, irrigation and mines, with no ill effects. This is not vital, but the positions of the cities etc. may go all screwed up
4. Go to View->Options and uncheck (if not already) the "Compress BIC files" box. This part is very important, but very touchy, as if a map is too large and full of stuff (over 3,000KB, I think), then you will not be able to do ANYTHING. This happened to me once, and I had to import everything to a .biq which I could compress, as I had not made any backups! Once finished with Map Tweaker, re-enter another .biq and undo this process (View->Options->Compress BIC files)

If any problems arise, feel free to ask
