A Game of Strategy
This idea came to me a long while back, but I never did follow through with it.
In seeing some of the gameplay that others here demonstrate in stories from the GoTMs, or the Succession and like games, but while these provide people with an understanding of the strategy, they generally fall short when it comes to the idea of how to effectively maximise any single turn to your advantage. When is it best to use a promotion, how to decide what to have a city build next, etc. My idea therefore is to create a game save, and from this save point players can play as they like, how I want this to differ however from other games is that spoilers are not at all discouraged. We can then discuss what choices went into making any given decision on any given turn, and if there is a better one. In order to help everyone stay on the same track however, so that we are not all over in both time and space, I would suggest that we advance the discussion in groups of 10-50 turn increments, and each player who wishes to participate play that period report on the major (and minor if you so choose) descisions made concerning your play of those turns. It would be strongly encouraged to post the ending save after those turns, and a log of all actions made such that another player could replay them ingame where they would have to make similar descisions themself in other games. So here I ask a few questions: 1) Who is interested in trying this? 2) Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve on this idea (even if you are not interested, is there a way to get you interested)? 3) If I was to create the save file, what difficulty would people want? Since we will be able to fix mistakes, and for the most part be optimizing this game at every stage, a high difficulty might be in order, but it's unlikely I would be able to win anything above Prince or Monarch myself. 4) Besides difficulty, Size, Climate, Sea Level, etc? Thanks for actualy reading this all. !

I'd be interested in playing, so long as it's Prince difficulty or lower. Not fussed about any of the other choices, I usually play it random. I can't think of any way to improve the original idea
