Ok, I'm going to start my second SG. This time it's going to be a little different.

I'm going to be the third of five people.
Large Map.
Everybody we're against is random.
Regent
60% Ocean.
Random Land Mass, Age, Temperature, and Raging Barbarians.

We are going to be Rome.
10-20 turns per player. (You choose.)

If I've left anything out, please tell me.

Roster:
1. ErMaC
2. D9phoenix
3. gunning1
4. WarlordMatt
5. BCLG100
6. Trickey

Are you waiting for the patch? Seems I read somewhere that the commercial trait was going to get a boost.

I've heard about the patch, but I don't know when it comes out. If I knew when it came out then I would be able to tell. Probably.

OK I just started, turn 1. The most INCREDIBLE START SPOT EVER!!! You have to see this one....

Took a few turns to make the warrior, switch to settler right afterwards. Trust me guys, there's gonna be poppoints to burn in Rome.

turn 11 I find a hut with a warrior and I spot a yellow border very close to home. Uh oh.

Turn 13 I find out it's the egyptians. Thebes is 10 squares from Rome. Go figure. There are furs in between us, but much closer to them.

Turn 14 I trade alphabet for ceremonial burial.

Turn 16 settler is built. I'm not terribly sure where to build him, but I think I'll try and take those furs. I've taken a screenshot so if I made a bad decision please tell me a better place.

Turn 18 - a barbarian hut to the north east of rome gives me a map.

Turn 20 - I find green borders to the north east. Don't know who it is yet, but I'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: BTW I'm hoping this goes fast as I'm really bored and I'd like to try these things as they sound really fun.

I don't see why we need to bother waiting. I mean, when the patch comes out, we'll still likely be able to use the save, and plus... it's still 3/4 days away (if they make their scheduled target). Why wait when we can probably finish the game by that time?

Anyways, yes it is a VERY nice starting place, with no less than 8 wheat tiles in its vicinity, and a cattle, too!

The settler is currently en-route to the forest adjacent to the river and the 2 fur squares. The worker is on auto, which he probably shouldn't be (I'm learning more and more that it sucks).

Anyways, I figure I can just rush build settlers from Rome since it's got such a high food production capacity. What do you guys think? Also, was staying on Bronze Working hte right thing to do?

EDIT: Forgot, I have the Govenor default to be managing a city's population with emphasis on Production.

Unless I screwed up bigtime (which I don't think I did, but I might've) I'm pretty sure it's a large map. Looking at the minimap it would appear to be large:

My god in heaven this is a weird game!!! Thebes 10 tiles away, and we start by 8 WHEAT TILES? WOW!

Are you quitting the other one, gunning? If so, I'll join.

Ah I see. Well I guess my expectations for participation were a little high then. ^_^ No matter, it should still be fun, and gives me time to maybe try out other SGs/my own single player games.
