Mac vs PC game help

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site, so please bear with me.

I want to play my Pal at Civ 4 tonight.

I am running a iMac G5 2ghz 2 GB with 10.4.11

He is running Windows XP not sure of his hardware but it runs Civ fine.

I am using a router, to connect to the net wirelessly in Brighton, he is plugged into his router in Mile End with an ethernet cable.

I have previously beeen playing him using another mac so there has been no issue there.

I just used gameranger and it was easy.

Now I assume I host and he joings via direct IP?

if anyone would be so kind as to let me know if this will be easy and painless or complicated and infuriating?

Can anyone help me so I can just play tonight without any grief?
