This might be a mistake, but I hope the wise and benevolent flyingchicken does not see my presence as a threat

Acca - Azale
Culture: Ailuttorutto, Tiny
Income: 500
Military: 500 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 100 = 200)
Manpower: 1,000 men
Description: Acca is the smallest and newest of the Ailuttorutto nations. If it can keep itself away from the grasp of the main Rutto kingdom, then it could be well placed for a bright future.

Cool thing about Acca. Acca is Acca backwards

Oriisius Considered the Envoy before him, he had a good mind to have him killed, he had never been insulted like this before.

"Tell your chiefs that if they comes we will meet them. But be warned for the Flaming Sword of Oposios[1] shall purge you and your bretheran from your god-forsaken lands,"

The Envoy left, escorted by the Guards, Oriisius doubted that they truly intended to invade Thearak, they lacked the will power to do so, he mentally deceided to have arrangements made to reinforce the border, and inform the garrison commanders that another drawn out series of skirmishers was to break out. [2]

And then Oriisius began to discuss with his generals other matters, a Priest was present and they began to ponder bringing light to those who had fallen into darkness; tales of the destruction north of the Mountains had reached even Thearak usually on the backs of savage horsemen and plagues, these had susbsided somewhat; an expedition should be organised to attempt contact with the faithfull. The Priest had expressed great fears of those north of the Kotthorn Mountains being driven into Istria's Arms, and this would not stand....

*******

A few weeks later Oriisius had a sudden change on heart on how serious the Kratoian envoy had been, the border had been strangely quiet, and of course word had reached him through his spies that the nations of Duroc and Piatrata had been marshelling their armies for unknown reasons, logistical stockpiles being built up, Oriisius gathered his council and thus began a set of deep conversations and debates on how to deal with the current crisis.

[1] A Commander of one of the guards of Irallia; yes we have plenty of people who documented the Prophet, and thus after his death quiet a few other stories became standard as well, as you might expect. It also gives me the excuse of calling up nice lines for people to say.

[2] Of course, such an action would be treated as just another round of skirmishes on the border, it takes time for this notion to be changed.

Lian hurried through the halls of the palace, two ministers panting to keep up. Running a government was a challenge enough on its own, but as regent she had also to play mother for a man far too old for mothering. Her brother sometimes seemed more of a challenge than she could handle, and Lian cursed their father twice, first for dying and second for leaving an incompetent drunk as his heir. Yet there was something to be said for being regent. She held more power than most would ever aspire to, and that was something Lian did not easily forget. Most of the time.

Her footsteps came to an abrupt halt outside the king’s chambers. A lavish carving adorned the thicken wooden door, broken down the middle by the slash of a knife. The king’s work, of course, as it always was. The agriculture minister tapped on door directly above the gouge. The door opened. The king lay on his bed entwined with at least five other bodies. Lian recognized a girl from the kitchens and a stableboy among them and planned their immediate dismissal. The king himself did not appear to take notice of her, but the others scrambled to their feet.

Lian put on her best scowl. “Now I know where to find you when the Ritti ambassador puts in an appearance, good brother. I was glad to fill in your duty to the people, but I am afraid that foreigners may not always be so understanding. The ambassador was most dismayed that you would not be attending.”

The king finally seemed to have taken notice. “Ah, sister, I am so glad to see you.” His voice was enough to put Lian on edge. “You must have noticed when you came in that I was otherwise occupied. I am certain that our duty was carried out properly. You see, my presence was not necessary.” He threw up his hands. “What is an unnecessary king to do but indulge himself?” The kitchen girl stifled a giggle.

This made things both easier and more difficult. Perhaps the two servants she had recognized did not need to be dismissed just yet. “Very well. I will assume that you will not show up to the appointed meeting with the guild of travelling merchants? They have, I am told, important news.”

“But perhaps not so important as what one might find in this very bed, sister! No, I am certain you will do a better job than I.”

“You honor me, Allano. Minister Nunor here has something of importance he thought wise to bring to your direct attention. I will leave him here with you.” And, at that, Lian turned all of her attention away from the king and strode out the door. Nunor’s report was not especially urgent, but it was long and boring, and it would keep the king busy. Lian hoped to meet with the merchants without her brother’s interruption, and somehow the distractions of the bed did not alone control him when she did not desire his presence.

...

Risa. Lian remembered the name vaguely. She had been a young woman then, and Risa about the same, when Risa’s caravan brought word from the south of new discoveries. Her father had offered instruction to the guild of travelling merchants to learn more, for the greater good, but little save rumor had passed north across the desert since. Now this woman Risa was again the bearer of key news. Lian hoped that her expression did not betray her excitement.

“I have brought from the southlands examples of this work, this iron, that was first reported two decades past. Here you can see, while it is not quite so strong as bronze—this bronze knife could cut in two, given enough time—it is cheap and easily acquired.” She set the four iron pieces down next to a small bronze knife. The knife had indeed cut a small dent in the iron bar, but anything so able to resist bronze was worth considering.

“Now, that is not all I have brought. I told you yourself, Princess Lian, many years ago, when your father still lived, that I would find the secret of iron working for our people. I am afraid that such efforts have not yet been successful, but I have brought from the south the next best thing.” She motioned to the three men of her entourage, and one stepped forward.

“This is Hawajjaneh. He was a slave in Hu’ut, far beyond the southern desert and the distant sea, who offerred his services to me in Pekorova. His job in Hu’ut had been the smelting of iron.” Risa smiled at that last. Lian knew the woman was glad that her words had achieved the desired dramatic effect. Iron…

Launians
Starting Location: Where the Prokym use to be
Society: On the top of society are the despots or chieftains. Below them are merchants, priests, soldiers, and craftsman. Of course on the bottom are peasant farmers and gathers like in most societies.
Lineage: Patrilineal
Values: Strength, Age, Wisdom
Religion(s): The Launians believe that during daytime is the peak of the power of the God Anaian. He is the eldest son of three brothers which controls the earth during the daytime. The middle child Nuericanos is believed to be at his peak of power at night in which he controls the world. One is viewed as the force of all things good (Anaian) and all things bad (Nuericanis). The youngest son Seadol lives under the oceans, rivers, and seas. He occasionally sides with his brothers to even out there power which causes a weakening in Anaians power known as winter or a strengthening of his power known as summer. All living things were created by an unknown creator given the responsibility to rule the planet. You can call it for Anaianism for those who worship Anaian and Seadolism for those worship Seadol.
Language(s): The Launians speak what is known as Launial. The people use marks on clay or wood to write. Still very primitive written language mostly used to count things.
Mythos: The Launians believe they have been chosen by the God Anaian to migrate south towards a fertile river. They were chosen for their daily devotion to his worship to keep the evil forces of Nuericanis at bay.
Economic Base: Agriculture, Hunting and Gathering, Pottery, fishing, and limited metalworking
Nation Names: Seadians (People who live by the sea), Nuericanti (term used for barbarian invaders), Taudoians, Verdoanians
Person Names: Chief Laun (mythical chieftain who lead the Launians from the colder northern regions/people named after him), Chief Asli, Noerdoians,
Place Names: Seadol River, Seadolian Sea, Anaia Mountain Range.

The Launians are a tribe that migrated southwards from the cold northern regions looking for more plentiful lands. As the Prokym began to move southwards the Launians moved in to replace them settling on the river valley near the Anaia Mountain Range. The tribe split into two main groups those who live inland (Launians) and those who live by the sea (Seadians) starting a separate worship of the God Seadol.

OCC: Finally, came up with something I really liked here. Hopefully, this works for now. Just place my tribal culture near where the Prokym use to be as they migrate away.

Krato Chain of Command

The Council of Chiefs: The rulers of Krato, these men’s words are law. Each Chief is appointed by their family to represent them in the Council. Many chiefs are specialized in one subject, usually what their family is known for. Examples would be Warchief Bonto and Cropchief Fronco. If there is conflict in the Council, votes are organized to determine the course of action.

Chiefs: Chiefs are heads of their families. They are often talented men who excel at what their family values the most. When not talking with their fellow Chiefs on issues, the Chiefs are often among their family, aiding them in everyday tasks. There are many specialized Chief titles, such as Warchief and Cropchief.

Warmasters: These men are hardened veterans of many battles. They are trained to be in peak condition and are highly disciplined. They answer directly to Warchiefs and are responsible for leading smaller groups of men into battle. These men are often known for their ability to stay calm and collected, even in the most desperate situation. This leads many to think their training drives them insane to the point to where they have no emotion.

Katarors: These are men whom have done very well in battle and are recognized for it. They are named after the short, punching swords they wield in battle. They are extremely efficient in piercing armor at the cost of reach. Katarors are usually ordered to train new troops. Often times, Katarors are promoted to Warmasters.

Mahouts- Mahouts are elephant drivers. While they are not necessarily in charge of anyone, their advice is taken seriously when it comes to elephants. They are generally richer than regular foot soldiers, and are almost valued as much as a Kataror. Sometimes, a mahout can rise to the rank of Warmaster, or even Chief. These high-ranking Mahouts will often lead elephant attacks or supervise the taking care of elephants.

@Azale: If you need to know anything about the culture, just refer to this post, just in case you haven't already. I doubt Rutto has the manpower (mainly) and organizational sophistication (maybe) to hold a large empire extending all the way there.

Just a little climate question for North King: What is the weather like the further east I go? Are there any significant differences than the rest of Krato? Or is everything pretty much just the same as most of Krato?

The only question I have after reading that (and it was very helpful, thank you ) is...what is the typical leadership apparatus for an Ailuttorutto nation? A singular authoritarian figure or a council of elders kinda thing? Is there a specific title?

Still pretty much a savannah, though maybe a little drier the more northwest you go.

Abaddon: You can always take an NPC steppe tribe or create your own.
