WinAmp? Windows media really isnt that bad.
One thing if it was real player you might need to change some of the file types that real saves things in.

Well, Windows Media Player (the old one, version 6.4, as it is inluded as "mplayer2.exe" in WinME , not that Fancy WMP7 crap) for video files and Winamp for audio. Special file types like Quicktime, RealMedia or Vivo aren't playable on any other player but the "official" (e.g. QuickTime or RealPlayer)

For soundfiles, nothing surpasses WinAmp. Free, regularly updated, very customizable, as well as fast and reliable. AND it is not from MS:flamedevi:!!!

Although I suggest also looking at older versions of WinAmp, I prefer some of them over the newer ones, matter of personal taste.

No No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!

Windows Media player is the ultimate in spywhere. They're latest patch for it has things hidden in the EULA that say it's okay for them to keep your rig from playing non licenced media. They're sneeky bastards.

Use Winamp. They have millions of plugins for it that will make it do anything you can possibly want. Even a plugin to play your Real stuff.
