Zooming in and out in civs III question
Can anyone tell me how to zoom in and out while in the map editor? The game allows one level which is better than nothing, but I can't get anything to happen in the map editor.

It is shift - / +, alternatively you can also choose view / zoom from the top menu and then choose one of the presets.

The + & - keys do not zoom, there is no option under 'view' for zoom, and there are no magnifying glass icons that someone stated. Could this be a patch issue that needs to be downloaded? I have never had trouble with civs before now.

What version of Civ3 do you have? Vanilla, Conquests, Complete?

I must be playing the vanilla version of this game. It's a plain box that just says Sid Meier's Civilization III
My 'view' button has 6 choices only: toolbar status bar grid grid coordinates food/shield icons clean map I also don't see that shield icon just to the right of the earth 'generate map' one you have I found this v1.29f patch I am loading on the good ole' 56k dial up we get here in the country. In an hour I will know if that fixes things. I appreciate you guys trying to help. Making a map without a zoom feature is kinda tough. |

You have the basic or Vanilla version of the game, and I suspect that the editor does not have a zoom feature.

Amazon.com has Civ III Complete for only $12. It's worth getting - more terrain types to play with in the editor, a lot more units to use in the game, greater variety of civs/tribes. Plus, most of the mods & scenarios created here & available for download are for Conquests/Complete rather than "vanilla".
