hi all,
i've got a problem when playing on a huge world map with a lot of enemies. as soon as the civs are reaching modern times (or just have a lot of cities and so on...) every turn takes very long. i'm sure it needs mor cpu power to calculate every movement but i think it takes a bit too long. i don't know the exactly time but i think i gotta wait more than 5 minutes till i can play again. my question is now: is this normal? i'm playing with a amd thunderbird 1.1 ghz, a gforce2 mx and 512 mb ram (not the worst case i think )...

okay, because nobody answered my question i searched this forum for a simular thread... i (more or less) succeeded! i got a bit happier by reading this thread. because it got really huge and it's a completely mess in this post i hope someone will have a look at this thread
![]() in this huge thread i found some other guys with the same problem i have. well... while the AI is calculating the next turns civ3 needs (more or less) 98% of the cpu power. i think thats okay... but 5-10 minutes is much too much. okay, playing with a huge map and 16 civs (well... 2 have already been destroyed ) need a lot of cpu, but with a 1.1ghz cpu???this is really amazing ![]() by the time i'm getting bored playing civ3 (it doesnt make fun with a small map or less civs!!!). and i'm sure i wont by a 2.4ghz cpu or a gforce4 just to get half of loading times (still 3-5 minuted ROFL) how boring... |
