Question Horseman names

I'm just wondering how each of the four Horsemen in FfH got their name. My own attempts to figure it out via Wikipedia and Google have turned up Ars moriendi (a book on the "art of dying") and Yersinia (the genus of the bacteria that causes the Bubonic Plague). I already knew about buboes as a medical phrase, although how War got this name is beyond me. And I have nothing at all for Stephanos.
EDIT: Just looked up Stephanos again.

But that still leaves Buboes...

Buboes means a swelling of the testicles, whicvh seemed appropriate for war. It is also one of the symptoms of the plague. Ars Morendi is a latin text written about the horrors of the plague, and translates as you said into the "Art of Dying". All three are latin and they lossely break down to the stages of the plague, symptoms, plague and death.

Stephanos is a greek word for crown. More importantly it is the word used to refer to the type of crown the 1st horseman of revelation would wear. Interestingly "Stephanos" isnt the word you would typically use to mean a royal crown, it means a type of crown given as reward or for an achievement.

And now I'll always think of testicles when Buboes comes onto the scene...hadn't ever expected that to happen. I'll have to let my friends in on this wonderful bit of knowledge.

Would like to see the logic chain that lead to such conclusion .

My guess would be that male testosterone and pride have something to do with testicles and war.

In context, that sounded very very wrong - did someone show you their enormous red sword during your childhood?

Yuck

Buboes are swollen lymph nodes that can occur anywhere lymph tissue is; the ones in bubonic plague start in the armpits and neck but you could get them in the groin as well.. [squirms uncomfortably] ok I'm going to stop typing now

Now, that ya mention it, I'm disgusted.

Kael!
Now you've not only ruined wat's left of numerous weekends, but you've now caused me to associate testicles with one of the Four Horsemen. Grr...

That is incredibly immature and...bah, just kidding. Kael and Co have reached a whole new level of awesome! Linking the end of the world to enormous red glowing "swords" and swollen testicles. That takes talent. I'm going to go vomit while laughing now.

Buboes (or the singular, bubo), doesn't have to do with testicles specifically. It's a swelling of the lymph nodes, which is most apparent on the neck, in the armpits and, yes, on the testicles. The word gives its name to the bubonic plague, and buboes are also symptomatic of syphilis and some other diseases that attack the lymphatic system.

Well, guess wat? In this case, we associated a BIG RED SWORD with Buboes. And then attached the apocalypse to that image. So, wat do we have? A subtle reference to the male anatomy. Now, I'm gonna go puke, laugh, and puke some more. And if that don't work, I might jus kill my mind.

Folks, if a mild thing like this still manages to shock you, you obviously haven't been in the Internets for very long. Do a bit of exploring on someday...

Oh, wow. Never thought I'd hear that name here... I just realized, if the Internet was Fall from Heaven, would be the Ashen Veil Holy City.
Although, from what I've seen, the main reaction hasn't been shock but childish fits of giggling.
