Please let me search for 3 letter words

Since this website is packed with sooooo many post and threads I like to use the search function to save time for myself and prevent questions being asked a 100 times. But is there any way we can reduce the serach minium time to like 5 seconds or better yet nothing and PLEASE!!!!!!let me search for 3 letter words...small words like....map....civ...BTS...and so on would realy make the search function more friendly

Do you realize how many results you would get by searching "civ"?

my main beef with this is that even one 3 letter word kills the search, e.g.
Blue Marble Mod
is disallowed while Blue Marble is not. Now this is not a problem in this circumstance - but go ahead and search for the BUG Mod or FFH (if you don't know what those acronyms mean) or - since BtS is disallowed - if you want to search for posts that reference whatever in BtS the forum search is useless since most people don't write out Beyond the Sword (which by the way would also be a disallowed search ) in their posts.
I'd be all in favor of allowing 3 letter searches - if that is not feasible, maybe think about these things if they are possible to implement:
- include a filter of allowed words like Civ, BtS, Mod, GPP, TnL, Sid () and the like to reduce the tediousness of the forum search.
- allow the forum search to ignore 3 letter words in searches like Blue Marble Mod instead of breaking the search completely.

Yes I know and use the google search - but prefer the filters of the forum search if possible.

I'd just like to see the no-results searches not count for the 40-second wait. It's extra frustrating to search for a long string with an unnoticed three letter word in it and then have to wait 40 seconds because you forgot to snip the phrase.

I mean, I'd like to see the 40 second delay and the four character minimum both eliminated altogether, but what the hey.

I agree with Lucy, I understand that it's not possible in terms of server time to search for 3 letter words, but don't let me waste 40 seconds of my life!

I completely agree!!!!

It used to be like that before an upgrade. I asked probably like 10 times in that upgrade thread for it to be brought back to the way it was before, where no-result searches did not count, but I got no answer.

yea if you search for "civ" your going to get god knows how many results. But usually i am looking for a pharse....something like "maxium civ" or "huge europe map"

its just fustrating sometimes

Around here, searching for "civ" is like searching for "the" on Google. I wouldn't be upset with filtering out the same kinds of things Google filters out, that is, common short words, and in our case, civ. It's just that there are a lot of three-letter search terms that are perfectly legitimate and they get glossed over with a blanket ban.

At the very least the 40 second wait should not be present if it hasn't actually run a search due to a 3 letter word. Better would be to just ignore the 3 letter words and run the search with the remainder if it really can't cope.

The inability to search for 3 letter words does greatly reduce the value of the already rather shaky search system. Term like "BtS" and "mod" may be common, but it would still be useful if they could be included as part of a longer phrase.

Maybe you can make a list of three-letter-words that can be accepted. And try to kick out the forty second wait for mistakes.
