Crashing Civ4 Game!!!!
I need help!
I have been playing Civ4 with intermitent success. The game is great when working, however over the last three days it has crashed several times. I had been having audio issues until I downloaded an update from Microsoft for my XP Professional operating system and now that seems to have been miraculously fixed. But now, even more annoying is the "crashing" thing! It lets me run the program for an hour or two and then I get a message box that says, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application." So I do, I've now lost my game that I was working on and now I'm pissed! Has anyone else out there had this happen? And what did you do to fix it? P.S. It also makes my desktop go to huge icons and then I have to go in and turn them back to normal size. Go figure. Bonnie |

unless you turned them off you should have autosaves from no more than 4 turns before the game crashed
as for the error message: does windows event viewer show any more information? |

You can load an Autosave by going to Load Game and clicking on the + sign next to single and then the Autosave folder.
