Why have reviews been so hard to come by?
It seems odd to me that computer mags are only just getting copies to review.. they usually get them much earlier than the launch date.
I don't smell conspiracy, but do you think they will be relying on EA's Download Manager to patch up bugs they have not had yet time to fix?

Yes, rumor has it that there's a patch for Spore already. It was mentioned in the chat with the Spore-gameplay stream. They had a link, I followed it and got a download screen, it had "ea" in the ip-address...
I didn't save the link, and didn't download, so I have no proof.  This bit of news I found too tricky to post in my Spore blog... so you can consider it a civfanatics scoop.

I wonder how long they plan to support this game?

Apparently the amount of such creatures is already diminishing, and they have ads on the Sporepedia to pay for the lasting effort.
On the OT: I found an updated preview on Shacknews of someone who said that he'd get his review copy only this week.

Australian magizine got the first review copy anywhere in the world and that was about 2 weeks ago, Pc Power Play gave it a 9/10.
