I learned about it on March 4, 2006, in the Spore SimEarth Thread.

Ever since Feb. 2005 when it was first starting to be announced. I don't remember how I first heard about it, though.

I just heard about it today. I guess I haven't been paying attention lately. I absolutely must have this game and was ready to drive directly to wally world but noticed it wasn't yet released.

Now I'm trying to decide whether to order it so it's ready when I come back from my business trip or see if I can find a copy locally Sunday and play a few hours. I think I'm going to wait until Sunday and then order if I can't find a copy.

It was either 2005 or 2006, I forgot. The funny thing is how I heard of it: I was unpacking something, and newspapers were at the bottom. One article was about this unique new game that was comming out by the creator of the sims. Looked online as was hooked.

I heard vaguely about it in 2007 as vaporware. Wasn't very interested mainly because I knew EA sucked since they descended from the greatness that they were in the 1980s (all those great album games for the Apple IIe), and Maxis, which was always cool until the Sims, which was a total descent into narcissism.

Looks like Spore is totally kewl dude, from Dale's posts.

I have been waiting since 2005 I think. I sort of forgot about it for a while, but then when it got close to completion a couple of months ago, I suddenly remembered how much I wanted it!

I was looking for games about evolution in May 2005, found a GDC presentation video: "... and further out ..."
I never much cared for the Sims, but this is a game that still seems tailor-made for me.

I haven't really been following it. I remember when it was announced and they showed some gameplay demos. Then it got delayed and I forgot about it until the Creature Creator was leaked

The creature creator was not leaked, there was a trial version which was watered down (less features) for people to download, you could also pay for the full version.
