Rate how much you like/hate spore!

For me this game couldn't come earlier enough, it was maybe slightly below what i expected with all the hype but i have only ever seen a few games with this much hype around them. It was fantastic and the replayability is endless, with probably millions of different creatures to meet and make it is fantastic!

9 out of 10 for me.

Your thoughts?

I won't have it for several more days, though this thread makes me feel even further behind the wave than I felt earlier.

I'm encouraged by the three high scores. The 'never' vote brings it down to a 6/7 average, still good enough for me

Um, I'm in that category- it's just one for people who haven't had the opportunity to play Spore yet- I think the mark we've given it here is a 9.

Absolutely stunning !
I am not too fond of the civ phase, so I deduct one point. But I can´t remember having that much fun with a game! Played it 15 hours the day I got it, 14 hours yesterday and I have left my bed 3 hours ago and played 2,5 hours so far . It´s worse than WoW in that regard.

i kind of rushed through it to get to space phase, but civ phase probably was my least favorite.

Ive spent the entire morning up till now ( a good 6 or 7 hours now) playing through it and so far its worth my 45$. I do wish you could modify how many civs or how many tirbes arise in their respective stages though. It would be amazing to have to duke it out with 30+ other civs. It would have been even cooler if you could get a spaceship before you allied/conquered all of them. (Abducting the other civ's guys and dropping them off on a barren rock close to the sun would have been fun )

I've spent 12 hours on it so far. I'll rate it a 9. Still waiting for connectivity issues to cramp it later on. But I'd say I got my entertainment dollar out of it so far.

The in-game editors are a wee-overrated though. I doubt we will see stuff as cool as the creatures in the buildings editors, much less the 'anthem' editor. The UFO editor rocks though.

The civ stage is probably the worse, and to think that they got soren johnson (lead designer of Civ 4) to help them out, it should have been better.

Didnt he come pretty late into the development? If so, there probably wasnt much he could do. He couldnt just get them to rewrite the entire code.

So now Im awaiting a civ4 port into Spore

I think he joined them about a year ago - scarcely enough time to learn their code (to the point that you know a change isn't going to break something - Remember Civ3?) and then rewrite any code before the development cut-off point (usually 3 months before the game ships).

Thats exactly what I was saying. Best thing we can hope for is that he makes a great contribution to an expansion pack.

He probably had input in the diplomacy since it's pretty close to the same as civ.

I really liked the Civilization stage! But then again I really wasn't looking for too much of a challenge.

whats with you and hype ball lightning? You have said this again and again.

I'd say that I love it but I've been a bit frustrated with the path I've taken so far. It's hard being an omnivore in the creature stage and not having a lot of charm.

I see a lot of fun in various stages, the fun of going from step 1 to the end, and the ability to have expansions add more. I think it's completely groundbreaking, and I hope someday we see Civ add a space age (like Orion) to it's game, and maybe something pre-Civ.

I question the replayability as single player though. Time will tell.

Rated 8: +game concept, +multiple mini games, +graphics, -controls, +-replay, +-content

I don't think you need much replayability. Someone tell me in a few years whent hey fully get through Space stage, cus thats massive.

I went exploring yesterday, and managed to get the traveler 3 badge pretty quickly. There are literally hundreds of planets, so I dont think replayability is a large issue.
