Should I...

I never played the original Colonization, so I was highly anticipating this release. It seems really cool (nice concept, interesting changes to game, AWESOME graphics), but looking at some of these vicious back-and-forth 'bug battles' I'm wondering if it's worth it to get the game. If this in the wrong section or should be in a different thread, please feel free to merge/PM me, moderators.

Now, please, I don't want any stupid "NO, IT IS TEH SUXXOR!" or "YES, ONLY WHINY N00BS CANT PLAY ZEH GAME!" comments. So thanks in advance for any rational advice.

As the game stands, right now, it's not worth the $30 purchase price. Now, keep in mind, that Civ4's initial release was in much the same boat (if not very much worse). Later patches turned this around, and Civ4 is a strategy-gamer's best friend.

So, if there are patches for Civ4Col forthcoming, then this may change, as there's a lot GOOD thematically in the game, but hampered harshly by the numerous issues present.

It really depends on your background pretty much if you will like the game or hate it - note that there is kind of no middle the game polarizes pretty much.

That said there is probably no good way to find out without buying the game. However if you are more of a causual gamer there is a good chance you will hate it like so many people here and you are better of with Spore.
If you are an expert player there is a good chance you will love it.

It's a good game, it has difficulty and end-game flaws. There are ways around this, and some forum members are working on fan patches. For an expansion price, it's hard to go wrong.
