How to Die

I have noticed that when it comes to a soldier dying in this game, the vast majority of unit death animations have the unit falling back on their back.

I would like to see more variety, I would like to see more face plants or crumbled into a heap or even fall to the side.

Any thoughts.

Edit: Sorry meant to put this in the Civ3 - Creation & Customization forum, could someone please move.

This is in the wrong forum. Ask a mod to move it.
And personally, I think it's up to the animator who spends their precious time donating their work to the guys who don't have time or skill to make animations.
I'd just be happy to have a unit than nitpick about how the animations are.

But that's just me.

Wrong forum. This belongs in the general C&C forum, this space is for completed units only. Ask a moderator to move it.

Edit: oops, crosspost with Deth...

I'd appreciate any variety, as long as it looks natural. There has been such a great diversity of models lately but very little variation in animations.

love the thread title btw

The problem with a unit falling forward is it falls on his opponent, or should I say thru him... which looks really bad. Falling to side would be logical when you get hit by a swordsman swooch... not when you're shot in the head !

Glad this Poll is being taken... Variety is Best, provided it is natural. I voted for Fall to Knees Face Forward Head Down because this differs from the usual Fall Back Lying Face Up.
Death animations are as important as any animation for a Unit...As a personal preference, Longer Death animations where the Unit not only hits the ground but remains for several frames after its death, allows the Death animation to have more impact on the player and does better justice to the Fallen Unit than merely showing the unit falling then maybe touching the ground in an instant to vanishing abruptly.
