Please insert the correct CD-ROM
When I try and run Civ 4, I get the loading screen then the error message telling me "Cannot locate the CD-ROM" - "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OC and restart application." I have Windows Vista and have DirectX 9.0C installed, so other DirectX games work.
I have Windows Vista 32 bit. I am running the file on Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode. I have all the administration BS turned off. I have tried each and every disk as they said it was possible to be mislabled. Thank you in advance |

Has Civ 4 ever worked? Is this a new problem?
I would try NOT running the game in compatibility mode. I am running Civ on Vista Home Premium (32bit) and it runs just fine. It is likely a problem having to do with the copy protection on the CD. Try upgrading the drivers and/or firmware for your optical drive.
